Real prizes, paid on the record.
A prize contest lists every prize in its official rules before it opens. No purchase is necessary, and a purchase will not increase your chances of winning.
Who provides the prize
Some contests are presented by a sponsor: the sponsor provides the prize, and the contest and its rules say so. The rest are funded by mainmarket. Either way, the first section of a contest's rules names who provides the prize and who runs the contest.
What you can win
- Every prize is listed by place.The rules give each place's prize and its value, and the total of all prizes. The prize pool is on the contest.
- Ties for a paid place.The tiebreaker decides first. If entries are still tied, the one locked in first takes the higher place. Changing your picks or lineup after you lock does not change that time.
- One prize per person, per contest.Each entry is scored on its own. If more than one of yours would place, your highest-placing entry is paid and everyone below moves up.
Who can win
Legal residents of the 50 United States and D.C. who are 18 or older when they enter, except in any state a contest's rules exclude. Employees of the sponsor and the administrator, and their households, are not eligible. Duplicate accounts are void.
How winners are verified and paid
- 1We email you.Potential winners are notified by email within 24 hours of the final.
- 2You confirm.Confirm your eligibility within the window in the contest's rules. We may ask to verify your identity.
- 3You get paid.Verified winners are paid within the number of business days the rules set, counted from verification.
Winners are responsible for any taxes. If you win $600 or more in a calendar year, we will ask you for a W-9 before we pay. Prizes cannot be transferred.
Group prizes
Some contests also carry group prizes, and only those contests' rules have a Group prizes section. A group's size is counted once, at the lock: members who joined before it and hold a locked entry. A group with 5 to 9 counted members plays for one $10 gift card, 10 to 24 for one $25 gift card, and 25 or more for one $50 gift card. It goes to the member whose entry places highest, and it is sent by email after that winner is verified, not automatically.
